Steamtown National Historic Site

The sound you are hearing is Steamtown's #2317
Steamtown is located in Scranton, Pa. in northeast Pennsylvania and is open year round 9:00a.m. to 5:00p.m.
Steamtown is owned and operated by the National Park Service. The site is dedicated to the preservation of
the steam locomotive as part of this nations development. It boasts a very large collection of locomotives
including a Big Boy. At this site, you can take tours guided by park rangers into various exhibits including
a very neat tour of the backshop where you can see actual locomotives being restored and see some of the
equipment and tools used to perform such tasks. You can also take about a two hour long excursion from
Scranton to Moscow, Pa. In Moscow you can de-train into a picnic area and pick-up light snacks and
drinks before returning to Scranton.
